Abstract
394,085. Gas scrubbers and washers. BRYANT, D. Y., 291, Crow Road, Broomhill, Glasgow, and BLAKELEY, SONS, & CO., Ltd., F., Vulcan Ironworks, Church Fenton, Yorkshire. March 15, 1932, No. 7630. [Class 55 (ii).] Fuel gases are scrubbed in a wash-tower C fed with tarry liquor from a separator G, before proceeding to a superimposed scrubber O packed with tiles, where they are washed with a condensate which is circulated from the separator G through a cooling tank L and a pump N. The scrubbed gases, after progressive cooling in the tower O, may be reheated by returning them through vertical tubes B running the height of the tower and bubble washer, to an outlet T. The height of liquor in the seal may be controlled by means of an adjustable weir plate H in the separator. In a modification the gases pass from the scrubber through a supplemental outlet at the top of the tower, the tubes B then serving as cooling tubes.
