392,737. Boots. MARLOW, Ltd., A. E., St. James' Works, Northampton, and MARLOW, H. ST. V. B., Flore Grange, Flore, Northamptonshire. May 11, 1932, No. 13579. [Class 17 (ii).] Connecting uppers to insoles and soles.- A strip 4 of rubber is secured at 3 along the marginal edge of the upper, preferably on the outside, and, after lasting the upper, its lower edge is turned in and secured by cement to a rubber covering 7 of the insole 6. A filling 9 of rubber sheet may be stuck to the covering 7 and a rubber or leather outer sole is then at. tached. A leather strip 2 may extend outside the rubber strip 4 being secured by the stitches 3 and, in the case of a leather outer sole, the lower end of this may be out-turned on the protruding marginal area on the upper side of the sole. When, as shown, a rubber outer sole is used, a thin strip of rubber 10 is stuck to the peripheral edge of the sole 8 and the small exposed portion of the strip 4 beneath a narrow leather strip 2.
