Abstract
392,494. Boiler-cleaners. BABCOCK & WILCOX, Ltd. and GLINN, R. J., Babcock House, Farringdon Street, London. Feb. 4, 1933, No. 3448. [Class 99 (ii).] Relates to boiler-cleaners of the kind comprising a nozzle 2 which is mounted on the inner end of a blower tube 1 and is adapted to be advanced into its operative position and retracted therefrom by a rotatable screw-threaded spindle 3 which forms an extension of the blower tube and coacts with a crosshead 5, steam being supplied to the blower tube through a lateral port or ports 11 from a branch 7 in the main casing 6. The spindle 3 has a valve 10 at its inner end which cooperates with a surrounding sleeve 8 provided at the end nearest the furnace with ports 9, which permit the cleaning-fluid to pass around the valve and through the ports 11 to the nozzle 2 when the valve is in the position shown in Fig. 3 and the nozzle is in its operative position. The travel of the blower tube is limited by stops 15, 16 on the crosshead 5 and spindle 3 respectively, and the casing 6 is fitted with an air-relief valve 21.
