Abstract

388,873. Banjos. KEECH, A. D., 28, Brook Street, London. Nov. 24, 1931, No. 32582. [Class 88 (ii).] In a banjo having a tone-chamber 14 formed by a ring 15 beneath the vellum, the vellum being secured over a ring 8 by a clamping ring 10 and hook members 12, the wall of the tonechamber is deeper than the head-rim 7 for at least a portion of the circumference so that the base 16 is correspondingly spaced rearwardly. The rearward spacing of the base is preferably greater near the neck, or may be only at that point. The tone-ring 15 is attached to the base 16 by lugs 17, and the base is secured in position by bolts 16a. The ring 15 preferably engages the underside of the vellum, but may be spaced therefrom and from the base 16.
