Abstract

256,310. Greenop, S. N. May 4, 1925. Banjoes &c.-In banjoes &c. having an outer hoop 1 and a dished metal reflecting-plate 2 with its base towards the back of the instrument, the plate 2 is of approximately the same depth as the hoop 1, contains the vellum-carrying parts, and is secured to the hoop 1 by a flange 3. The vellum 7 is stretched over the inturned edge of a metal inner hoop 5 by hooks 10 engaging the ring 13, the lower ends of the hooks passing through a. flange 8 on the inner hoop 5, distance-pieces 9 which may be of various shapes, and the plate 2. The sound passes between the distance-pieces 9 and is deflected forward by the plate 2.
