387,237. Combined buffing and draw gear. SCHARFENBERGKUPPLUNG] AKT.-GES., 251, Viktoriastrasse, Berlin. July 11, 1932, No. 19568. Convention date, July 11, 1931. [Class 103 (v).] In vehicle combined buffer and draw gear a draw-bar and buffer device having relatively sprung drawbar and buffer rods is provided with a yielding member, such as a traction spring or friction member, which is inserted directly between the vehicle and the spring gear of the draw-bar and buffer rods. In Fig. 1 a traction spring a is mounted between spring plates b situated against abutments d on the longitudinal bearers of the vehicle. Within the spring a are arranged two spring casings e, e<1> containing draw and buffer springs f, f<1> together with their spring plates to which the draw and buffer rods k, k<1> are secured and passing through the springs. Traction and percussive forces are transmitted along the train by the springs f, f<1> and to the individual vehicles through the traction spring a. In Fig. 3 a friction device replaces the traction spring and it comprises the draw and buffer springs f, f<1> which through their spring plates m, m<1> act on the friction sections o adapted to slide in a friction casing p. Fig. 5 shows the ends of the draw-bars k, k<1> lying in a twopart casing t, t<1> held together by a sleeve u. The springs f, f<1> are arranged between spring plates m, l, m<1>, l<1> and the spring plates m, m<1> are arranged on movement towards one another to press the friction segments against the friction casing. Pressure sleeves v, v<1> are provided to transmit the percussive forces. Other forms of friction segments are described.
