Abstract

241,033. Kreissig, E. Nov. 12, 1924. Combined buffer and draw-gear for tramways and narrow-gauge railway carriages comprises a rod a on which is mounted a spring b at each end of which are friction cones k, m having different wedge angles adapted to engage with corresponding angles of an expanding ring n. The spring and friction elements are mounted in a cylinder d having a cover with a coupling eye g by which it is secured to the vehicle, and the rod a has forward and rear abutments between which the front and rear cones k are situated. In draught or buffing the spring b is compressed and the friction rings n expanded to grip the cylinder d.
