Abstract
239,807. Mohr, H. May 14, 1925. Vibration-dampers.-A buffer gear for railway and like cars comprises solid rings c adapted to move longitudinally, intermediate split rings d adapted to be compressed or expanded by the longitudinal movement of the rings c, and one or more cylindrical or conical split rings e adapted to be compressed or expanded by the intermediate rings d whereby longitudinal forces or shocks are transmitted radially to the spring device. The end of the buffer plunger b bears on the end ring c so that in buffing the split rings d, which may be circular in cross-section, move radially to compress the cylindrical or conical split rings e. The rings e may vary in thickness and may be spaced apart so that each ring is compressed successively; the split edges of the rings e may also be arranged to overlap under load. In Fig. 10, the solid rings c are arranged on the inside and the split cylindrical or conical rings e on the outside.
