Abstract

384,833. Compressed-air turbines. PUGH, E., 17, Alfred Street, Ebbw Vale, Monmouthshire. Jan. 26, 1932, No. 2384. [Class 110 (iii).] An inward-flow turbine using compressed air and suitable for driving the saws of coalcutting machines such as described in Specification 371,906, [Group XXI], comprises a bladed rotor 18 within which epicyclic reduction gear 22, 23, 27, 28 is housed. The rotor is carried by bearings 16, and the driven shaft 26 by bearings 25. The stator is formed of a dished portion 11, a side-plate 14, and a shrunkon rim 30 having a cranked admission and supporting member 31. The gearing is protected by a housing 33.
