[Class 98 (ii).] Sensitive material for the production of four colour-separation negatives of the same subject comprises four picture areas disposed in two side-by-side pairs on two separate superimposed double-width supports or on four separate singlewidth supports superimposed in pairs and provided with two or four emulsions of different colour sensitizing and two or four filters of different colour or with four differently sensitized emulsions without filters. The material is exposed through a light-splitting optical system forming two identical image beams, for example of the type described in Specification 384,324. In one form, the front emulsion is of slow speed and low silver content and is transparent. The areas 1, 2 are sensitized for blue and green respectively or the whole emulsion may be orthochromatic. A pink filter a1 is placed before the blue sensitive area and a yellow filter a2 before the green sensitive area. The rear emulsion is of high speed and has areas 3, 4 sensitized for yellow and red respectively or the whole emulsion may be panchromatic and is provided with a greenish filter b1 and a violet filter b2. The material may be in the form of kinematograph films, roll films, cut films, film packs, or glass plates and the filters may be separate or may be applied to the material on the opposite side of the support to the emulsion, over the surface of the emulsion or between the emulsion and the support.
