[Classes 97 (i) and 98 (ii).] In a process for producing four photographic or kinematographic colour separation negatives of the same subject at a single exposure, four image areas on four separate supports superimposed in pairs or on two superimposed supports each having two image areas are exposed behind a light-splitting optical system which produces two identical side-by-side images. The areas of the sensitive material mav be differently sensitized and/or exposed behind differently coloured filters and the sensitive material described in Specification 384,336 may be used. In an example the front emulsion is sensitized for blue and green or is orthochromatic and is provided with a pink and a yellow filter and the rear emulsion is sensitized for yellow and red or is panchromatic and is provided with a green and a violet filter. The sensitive material may be in the form of glass plates, cut films, roll films or film-packs or may be carried by two double-width or four single-width films for kinematography. The optical system comprises a partially reflecting mirror or prism and a totally reflecting mirror or prism mounted in front of a pair of similar objectives or a single objective may be used, the light-dividing system being behind the objective and a compensating block of glass being inserted in the path of the longer light beam.
