Abstract

382,339. Magnetos; dynamos; driving-arrangements. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London, and GRIFFITHS, L., Kennington, Biggin Hall Crescent, Coventry. Aug. 10, 1931, No. 22594. [Class 35.] The rotors of a magneto and an ordinary generator are mounted directly on an extension of the crank shaft of an internal-combustion engine. In the arrangement shown a sleeve 1 fitting over the tapered end 2 of the crank shaft carries the generator rotor 3, the magneto rotor 5' and the commutator 4. The end 7 of the sleeve is formed as a cam to actuate the contactbreaker 25. The magneto rotor comprises two curved magnets 15 arranged between two polepieces 14 and secured between plates 16, 17 by bolts 18. The generator is of the type described in Specification 377,757.
