Abstract
A spalling-resistant, refractory, and chemically neutral brick is obtained by moulding with the aid of any organic binding agent a composition consisting of 15-50 per cent chrome iron ore, and 85-50 per cent dead-burned magnesian clinker containing 5-25 per cent of lime. The magnesian clinker may be replaced by sintered grain magnesite together with 5-25 per cent lime in any suitable form. The mass comprises coarse and fine particles, with the chromite constituting in whole or in part the coarse constituents, and being coarser than 28 mesh per linear inch.
