Abstract
380,433. Tamping-apparatus for use in moulding refractory bricks &c. LUX, E., 202, Rellinghauserstrasse, Essen, DANIELS, W. H., 174, Pestalozzistrasse, and KUHN, E., Am Hochofen, both in Heerdt, Dusseldorf, both in Germany.- (Assignees of Koppers Akt.-Ges., H. ; 29, Moltkestrasse, Essen, Germany.) May 1, 1931, No. 12950. Convention date. May 3, 1930. Addition to 380,432. [Class 87 (ii).] The apparatus of the parent Specification is modified by the provision of a piston of less area than the surface of the mould. Thus material placed in the dismountable mould 31 is vibrated by the ram 35 operated by the pneumatic hammer 38. After the material has been tamped all over by successive movement of the ram over the whole surface of the mould, the latter is filled to overflowing with additional material, a plate larger than the mould placed over it and the plate then tamped by the ram to consolidate the new material and present a level surface. The ram may be provided with a rounded or patterned under surface. Several independent rams may operate at the same time on large objects.
