[Class 10.] A self-driving machine comprises a cylinder containing two pistons with piston-rods and connecting-rods, the latter being connected to two crank pins on a common shaft. The arrangement is such that towards one end of the stroke the two pistons are separated by a space which is put into communication with a reservoir of compressed air by means of a valve opened by the forward piston when near the end of its stroke. At the other end of the stroke the pistons come together, and the air is expelled from between them past a non- return valve back to the reservoir.
