Abstract

350,300. Lubricating pistons. BOERLAGE, J., 5, Kleine Frankfurterstrasse, Wiesbaden, Germany. July 17, 1930, No. 21717. [Classes 12 (ii) and 12 (iii).] The piston of an air pump comprises two cupleathers 10, 11 capable of axial movement on the piston-rod 4 and between which is arranged a felt ring 12 saturated with lubricant. Metal rings 13, 14 are interposed between the ring 12 and the leathers 10, 11, and felt pads 15, 16 are arranged at the two ends of the piston. During each stroke, and also at the end thereof, when one of the pads 15, 16 strikes against the corresponding cylinder cover, one of the cup-leathers is displaced axially, whereby lubricant is squeezed from the ring 12 on to the cylinder wall.
