Abstract
378,227. Water-tube steam boilers. DEHN, F. B., 103, Kingsway, London.- (Doble Steam Motors Corporation; 925, Market Street, Wilmington, Delaware,U.S.A.) Sept. 7, 1931, No. 25100. [Class 123 (ii).] In a coiled tube boiler, a helically wound portion 36 of the boiler tube surrounds the firebox 22 arranged at the top of the boiler, and the gases flow downwards through a space 11 surrounded by a further helically wound portion of the tube, 'and then through the convolutions of spirally wound portions 7. Combustion mixture is supplied to the firebox through a tangentially arranged venturi tube 21, the gases being discharged with a whirling motion through a flange opening 26 in the bottom plate of the firebox. Water is introduced into the lowest spiral coil and passes upwards through all the spiral coils and then by a connection 33 to the helical coil, from the upper part of which steam is conducted by a tube 37 to further coils 38, 31. The centre of the spiral coils 7 is closed by an asbestos block 30 and a plate 29.
