376,091. Regulating exhaustion. MASCHINENFABRIK AUGSBURGNRNBERG AKT.-GES., 7, Stadtbachstrasse, Augsburg, Germany. Sept. 17, 1931, No. 26082. Convention date, Oct. 3, 1930. [Class 8 (i).] In a machine for casting stereotype plates the molten metal is raised from the melting pot 1 into a closed riser 6 by suction produced in an apparatus 9 acting through pipes 7, 8. A float 16 in the pot 1 regulates the pressure of a spring 20 acting on a valve 15 controlling an air port in the conduit 7, 8 whereby the degree of vacuum therein is controlled in accordance with the height of metal in the pot, and the head of metal in the riser is maintained constant.
