Abstract
374,934. Rolling tubes. WELLMAN SEAVER ROLLING MILL CO., Ltd. and SMITH, S., Victoria Station House, Victoria Street, London. March 17, 1931, No. 8180. [Classes 83 (ii) and 83 (iv).] A billet 1 for making a tube is pushed through reducing dies 4, planished and loosened by rolls 6 from its mandrel 2 which is then withdrawn, and is subsequently reduced in a mill, Fig. 4. The end 9 is cut off and the tube mav be reheated before entering the rolls 10. A mandrel head 12 keeps the bore uniform. The mill in Fig. 4 may consist of pairs of continuous or discontinuous rolls at right-angles. Mandrels.-When continuous the mandrel rod has a series of bulbs along its length, and is either in compression or tension. Specification 230,594, [Class 83 (ii), Metal articles &c.], is referred to.
