Abstract
374,921. Overhead ropeways. WHITE, J. W., Railway Works, Widnes, Lancashire. March 12, 1931, No. 7586. [Classes 78 (iv) and 104 (ii).] In an overhead ropeway of the type in which the carriage 4 is supported from a carrier rope 3, is traversed by a second rope 6, and in which the load can be raised or lowered by a hoisting rope 10, the last rope is supported at spaced distances by means of hangers 11 on the carrier rope 3. The hangers may consist of rollers 12 on the rope 3 connected by bars to rollers 13 supporting the rope 10. Stops 15 placed along the rope 3 limit the travel of the hangers. In another form, the hanger consists of a clamp on the rope 3 supporting the roller 13. Specification 23513/98, [Class 78, Lifting &c.], is referred to.
