Abstract

1458661 Elevator platforms F A BROOKS 7 Jan 1974 [5 Oct 1972] 46050/72 Heading B8L A passenger lift for attachment to a stairway comprises a pair of L-section guide rails 18 and a carriage 12 comprising a plate 28 extending parallel to and above the rails and a horizontal passenger support platform 44 integral with and extending from the lower edge of the plate. Two pairs of support rollers 32, 38 and a pair of retainer rollers 34 are mounted on the carriage to engage respective opposite sides of a horizontal flange 22 of the rails 18 and a further pair of rollers 40 on the carriage engage a side surface of the rails to provide lateral guidance. A cable 52 passes around pulleys 46 on the carriage and is secured at opposite ends to an anchorage and to a winch for raising and lowering the carriage along the rails.
