Abstract

373,745. Cigarette-making machines. MOLINS, D. W., Longwood, Hurst Road, Bexley, Kent. April 28, 1931, No. 12500. [Class 130.] A cigarette-making machine comprises means for loading a paper web 1 with tobacco and for dividing the filler into separate portions with a gap between the portions, and rod forming and cutting mechanism which severs the rod at or near the hollow portions. Prongs 3, 4 carried on an endless belt 5 enter the tobacco at B and are caused to separate by a cam 6, thereby producing gaps in the continuous rods, into which absorbent material may be placed. The web has pieces of paper 9 gummed on to it before it enters the tobaccofeeding mechanism. Specification 377,147 is referred to.
