368,942. Typewriters. TORPEDO FAHRRADER U. SCHREIB-MASCHINEN WEILWERKE AKT.-GES. and ETHERIDGE, H., Frankfort-on-Main, Germany. Feb. 10, 1931, No. 4130. [Class 100 (iv).] Type-lever actions.-In actions suitable for portable machines and comprising links 11 connecting the heels 12 of type-levers 13 to extensions 15 of levers 4 carrying key-stems 3, the distances between the pivots 12a of the type-levers and the pivoted connections 11a of the links, and the distances between the pivot 5 of the levers 4 and the pivotal connections 11b of the links increase from the centre to the sides of the system, the ratio of the distances being the same for each unit of the system. The links 11 are preferably of the same length and inclination. The key-stems are each formed with an arm 6 connected to a link 8, a comb-plate 2 being provided for guiding the arms and the levers 4. The connection between each key-stem and the association lever 4 is formed by a boss. Returning- springs 16 connected to the levers 4 are arranged to offer only slight initial resistance to the keys. Case-shift mechanism.-The segment 14 carrying the type-levers 13 is secured to a shift frame and is adjustable in inclination to adjust the types. The shift frame preferably consists of a cross-armed member, a bevelled part of the segment being secured by screws 32 to the horizontal arms 16, 17, and the depending arm 18 being provided with screws 33, 34 for adjusting the inclination of the segment. The arms 16, 17 are carried by rocking arms 22, and the arm 18 is carried by an arm 24 on a rock-shaft 25 provided with plates 26 which engage adjustable stops 28 and are connected by links 27 to shift keys. Aligning for impression.-The arm 18 of the shift frame has an extension 19 formed with a guide for the type-levers 13.
