Abstract

365,268. Ropes. WOOD, T., 100, Radcliffe Road, West Bridgford, and HOUFTON, G. H., Morley House, The Park, Mansfield, both in Nottinghamshire. Dec. 13, 1930, No. 37633. [Class 109.] The bobbins 10 of a rope or cable making machine of the sun and planet type are housed in rings 8 mounted in circular openings 7 in a number of plain wheels or discs 5, 6 mounted upon the main shaft 1. The rings 8 are held against rotation about their own axes, preferably by gearing 18, 19 rotating about a stationary gear 22 arranged on the main shaft. The bobbins 10 may be mounted upon studs 11 slidable in lugs 12 in the rings 8, or alternatively they may be mounted in cradles or cages removably mounted in the rings 8. When more than one disc 5, 6 is provided, a sleeve 25 is mounted upon the shaft 1 between each pair of discs and has teeth 26, 27 engaging teeth 28, 29 on flanges of the rings 8, so that the rings on all of the discs can be held stationary with respect to their axes by one set of gearing such as 18, 19, 22.
