Abstract

365,075. Pistons. CAVENDER, A. W., 49, Eastbourne Road, Tooting, London. Oct. 13, 1930, No. 30555. [Class 122 (i).] In a piston of the type comprising a head 7 carrying the piston rings and secured to a skirt portion 4 by bolts 6 pitched beyond the centralizing boss 5, the bolts are countersunk flush with the piston head and project into but not through the solid crown of the skirt portion. The boss 5 may be formed on the head 7 to co-operate with a recess in the skirt crown and may be screw threaded. Alternatively the centralizing means may comprise a ring adapted to engage coaxial cylindrical recesses in the head and skirt. A flat plate 12 secured to the piston head retains the bolts 6 in position.
