364,841. Making and filling paper bags or cartons. UNIVERSELLE CIGARETTENMASCHINEN-FABRIK J. C. MœLLER & CO., 48, Zwickauerstrasse, Dresden, Germany. Jan. 7, 1931, No. 621. Convention date, Sept. 24, 1930. [Classes 18, 94 (i), and 94 (ii).] Paper bags or cartons, formed by forcing a paper blank through a shaping channel 10 by a reciprocating plunger 7, are pushed by the plunger into one of a series of pockets 11 in a drum 12 which is intermittently rotated between side plates 14, 15 fitted with electric heating elements 16; by these means the gummed seams of the bags or cartons are dried. The bags or cartons are then ejected from the drum on to an intermittently moving conveyer 20 by members 19 which are carried by chains 18 and enter slots 17 in the plates 14, 15 ; a plate 23 carried by a cam-actuated lever 21 is then moved behind the bag or carton, a conical member 26 is moved into the mouth of the bag &c. and a reciprocating plunger 27 forces two layers of cigarettes from a magazine 28 into the bag &c. On backward movement of the members 26, 27, the conveyer 20 carries the filled bag to a closing device.
