Abstract

Convention date, Sept. 3, 1929. Addition to 338,864, [Class 87 (ii), Moulding plastic &c. substances]. [Class 87 (ii).] Relates to the process, disclosed in the parent Specification and consists in applying tension to the reinforcing members at points intermediate of their ends by tensioning devices operating through the mould walls. The reinforcing member 2 with abutments 1 may be tensioned by an arcuate member 6 having claws 8, the member 6 bearing on the edges 9a of an aperture in the mould wall 9 and being actuated by a screw 12 and thrust member 10 to apply tension to the reinforcement 2. In a modification, a pair of helical wedges 16. 17, Fig. 9, located in an aperture in the mould wall 9 may be rotated to displace the tensioning member 15. The abutments 2 may be integral with the reinforcing members or secured thereto as by screws. The reinforcing members may be in single lengths or may be separate members coupled end to end.
