Abstract
1,013,264. Post-tensioned light-weight concrete structures. SKOVDE GASBETONG A.B. Sept. 6, 1962 [Sept. 14, 1961; Aug. 17, 1962], No. 34166/62. Heading E1V. In the production of light-weight concrete beams, the unreinforced beam or beam sections is/are steam cured and dried, e.g. in an oven, before the beam is post-tensioned. Fig. 2 shows a steel-reinforced beam with end-plates 12, and nuts 15 for adjusting the pre-stressing force as the beam swells again after being dried out. The reinforcement ducts may be pre-moulded or drilled out, and the reinforcement may be steel bars or rods of glass-fibre reinforced synthetic plastics material. In the latter case the reinforcement may be thickened at each end, e.g. conically, or the ends of the rods may be split, and wedges forced into them. The plastics material may be formed around only the centre section of the bundle of glass fibres forming one rod before the rod is inserted into the beam, and the rest added afterwards, or the bundle of glass fibres alone may be pulled through the duct or groove, and the plastics material poured in afterwards.
