Abstract

364,239. Washing gases. CARRIER ENGINEERING CO., Ltd. and ROBERTSON, K. J. R., 24, Buckingham Gate, London. Nov. 5, 1930, No. 33314. [Class 55 (ii).] Gases are purified by spraying them with a liquid and subsequent passage through perforated plates to produce violent eddies. Gas is forced by a fan 2 through liquid sprays 4 and plates 6 with rectangular perforations in staggered relation. The liquid is circulated by pumps 12 and on opening a valve 14 is regenerated in a still 13; part of the liquid passes through a refrigerator 11. The temperature of the spray is controlled by a thermostat 7 in the treated gas controlling a valve 8 for mixing the cooled and uncooled liquids. The gas may be thermally treated before spraying or passage through the plates. Sprays may be arranged between the plates 6.
