Abstract
363,774. Electric hot-plates. NICHOLSON, L., Hall Lane, Woodford, Stockport, NEEDHAM, W., Cartmel, Broadoaks Road, Sale, Cheshire, and ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London. Nov. 5, 1930, No. 33286. [Class 39 (iii).] The heating element 1 comprises an insulated resistance supported in a pan 11 to which it is hinged so that it may be tilted to allow the pan to be cleaned. The article to be heated is placed on the element. The latter carries spiders 4 which rest on the pan. The pan is made of aluminium or stainless steel or is chromium plated. The heating element and switch mechanism may be interconnected for automatic operation of the latter. 363,775. Electric incandescent lamps. BRITISH ELECTRICAL & ALLIED INDUSTRIES RESEARCH ASSOCIATION, TAYLOR, H. G., LETHERSICH, W., and WEDMORE, E. B., 36, Kingsway, London. Nov. 6, 1930, No. 33396. [Class 39 (ii).] The cap k of a gas-filled incandescent lamp is separated from the gas-filled bulb a by a heat - insulating member which, in the example shown, comprises a vacuum compartment f separated from the bulb a by an annular or conical glass partition g. The stem b of the lamp has a central exhausting and filling tube c of the usual kind, and the leading-in wires e pass down the stem b and are sealed into the pinch d. The vacuum compartment f may be sealed off in a pip h which is protected by the cap k. A separate vacuum compartment in the form of a bulb provided with its own stem may be interposed between the cap and the gas-filled bulb, the leading-in wires from the cap being taken through the stems of the two bulbs to the filament.
