Abstract
363,709. Gaseous fuel furnaces ; burners. TRIGGS, W. W., 57, Lincoln's Inn Fields, London.-(Freyn Engineering Co. ; 310, South Michigan, Chicago, U.S.A.) Sept. 19, 1930, No. 28029. [Class 51 (i).] A control means for the burners of hot blast stoves comprises a blower 15 supplying air to the air inlet 12 of the burner 28 and driven bv a turbine supplied with steam through a pipe 30 having a valve 35 controlled by the pressure in the gas supply main 13 so as to regulate the air supply in accordance with the gas pressure. The burner 28 comprises an annular gas inlet 26 and central air pipe 12 and is slidably mounted on a box 27 communicating with the gas main 13. A lever on the valve 35 is connected by a cable 36 with a piston 37 movable in a cylinder 38 connected to the gas main by a pipe 40. The burner may be retracted from the stove by turning a hand-wheel 29 ; the movement closing a gas valve, after which the stove may be closed by a gate valve.
