Abstract
234,791. Askania-Werke Akt.-Ges. vorm. Centralwerkstatt-Dessau und C. Bamberg-Friedenau. May 31, 1924, [Convention date]. Gaseous-fuel furnaces. -In natural-draught gasfired furnaces, more particularly of large size such as blast-furnace boilers, Cowper apparatus &c., the gas pressure at the inlet is maintained at atmospheric pressure. For this purpose the gas at an inlet point corresponding with the open air inlet b is controlled by a baffle d in combination with differential pressure measuring or regulating devices of known type and acts on a diaphragm or piston connected with a valve e in the supply pipe, so as to maintain the desired pressure value. The gas and air mixture is thus always of con. stant proportions and the rate of combustion is determined solely by the chimney damper. Where several furnaces are connected in parallel, a gas main with a, single pressure regulator is employed and appropriate equalizing resistances are inserted in the branch pipes.
