[Class 106 (v).] Tilting-bottle apparatus of the kind described in Specification 7019/03, [Class 106, Registering &c.], in which a siphon f is arranged within the measuring chamber is provided with a partition plate i forming a compartment j which must be filled before liquid can flow into the measuring chamber, thus minimizing inaccuracies due to variations in the quantity of liquid in the receptacle. The air pipe e passing through the cork b into the bottle terminates in the closed end of the siphon and is provided with a notch at h to allow the air pipe to drain into the measuring chamber. When the bottle is tilted to bring the delivery pipe g vertical, liquid fills the compartment j and flows over the upper edge of the plate i into the measuring chamber, displaced air escaping through a vent tube k and also passing through the air pipe e into the bottle until the liquid reaches the top of the siphon and blocks the air pipe, when discharge through the pipe g commences. Unless the bottle is returned to its normal position the chamber will be recharged and the cycle of operations repeated. The vent tube k is contained entirely within the body part a its inner end being protected by a baffle m which prevents liquid from splashing into the vent.
