13,638. Bowley, J. W. March 20. Fixed-chamber apparatus with open chambers. -Liquid from a bottle &c. flows through an intermediate vessel C and through a valve E to one or more measuring-vessels D ending in fine tubes d<4>, so that the liquid is at the same level in the measures and in the intermediate vessel. The liquid passes into the vessel C until the opening of the pipe b<2> leading from the bottle is covered, thus forming a liquid seal, whereupon the valve b<3> in the supply pipe is closed and the liquid drawn off through the valve E. The vessel C has an opening c<1> to the atmosphere, and the measuring-vessels may be arranged to be filled and emptied alternately. The apparatus is mounted on a stand A and the bottle &c. is held in an inverted position by a clip on the stand. A stem B lined with a cork sleeve b<1> enters the neck of the bottle, and is held by a bracket a<2>. The vessels C and D are held by a bracket a<4>.
