Abstract
357,647. Valve amplifying and detecting circuits. ROBINSON, J., 29, George Street, Hanover Square, London. June 28, 1930, No. 19727. [Class 40 (v).] In a supersonic heterodyne receiver the intermediate frequency used is so low that the high order of selectivity set forth in Specification 344,869 is obtained and means are provided to correct for the distortion due to the high selectivity. The Figure shows a receiver comprising a high frequency amplifying valve V, detector valves V2, V5, and couplings L5 C8, L7CII, L9 C13 for the intermediate frequency amplifier arranged to give the required selectivity. Correction is effected in the input circuit of low frequency amplifying valve V6, by resistance condenser combination R6 R7 C17. The intermediate frequency is preferably of the order of 20000 cycles and numerical data for the components used for an amplifier at this frequency are given in the Specification. The correction may be effected in steps throughout the amplifier and by modifying the transformer T.
