Abstract
A solid fertilizer is directly produced by mixing a solid superphosphate with the crude product obtained by reacting ammonia and carbon dioxide either as gases or liquids at an elevated temperature and pressure, the crude product usually comprising urea, ammonium carbamate and water, but it may also contain ammonium carbonate and/or ammonium bicarbonate, biuret, &c. The super phosphate may be prepared by treating phosphate rock with a mineral acid, e.g. sulphuric, phosphoric, nitric or hydrochloric acid or mixtures thereof. Additional fertilizing or inert substances may be incorporated in the finished product. Specifications 335,421 and 339,969, [both in Class 2 (iii), Dyes &c.], are referred to.
