Abstract

<PICT:0355720/IV/1> <PICT:0355720/IV/2> A jet for the formation of artificial filaments, threads, bristles, or the like has, at the centre, reinforcing means adapted to prevent its distortion under pressure. The jet 20 may be formed on the one side with an annular depression 21, in the base of which the spinning orifices 22 are formed, and on the other side with a central circular depression which engages with the reinforcing means to support the centre of the jet. The reinforcing means may comprise a disc 18 provided with a threaded portion 17 adapted to engage with the body portion 12. A coupling member 26 serves to secure the jet to the body portion 12 by means of the flange 23. It is stated that in addition to enabling spinning jets to be formed with a much larger number of orifices (e.g. 200) than previously, the device allows the use of finer gauge metals for jet construction, and consequently smaller filament orifices may be produced.
