Abstract
354,549. Casting. LENT, H., 174, Wiemelhauserstrasse, Bochum, SCHIFFLER, H. J., 58, Bahnstrasse, and TICHY, G., 11, Wehrhahn, both in Dilsseldorf, both in Germany. Aug. 5, 1930, No. 23407. [Class 83 (i).] In casting open-ended hollow bodies with substantially constant wall thickness by vertical centrifugal casting a mould is employed consisting of a hollowed out bottom plate 1 and one or more members 2 offset according to the wall thickness desired and having a mould cavity of paraboloidal or ellipsoidal form. A cap member 3 with a central operation confines the metal within the mould. On completion of the operation no metal remains in the plate 1. Where very thin wall thickness of the casting is required, the casting may be completed by turning the mould to rotate about a horizontal axis.
