Abstract
352,569. Jigging conveyers. WILKINSON, T. B., Arnside, Westmoreland. April 16, 1930, No. 12117. [Class 78 (i).] The upper run of an endless chain, rope, or equivalent member 1 travels on the bottom of the troughing 4 in the direction of conveyance at a speed which is slightly in excess of the mean linear speed of conveyance of the material. The chain consists of two series of links 1a, 1b, Fig. 3, which are connected at intervals by pins or rollers 1c and are provided with short sprocket engaging members 1d. The sprocket 3 is driven from the jigging engine through a flexible shaft 9 and worm gearing 6. Laterally or upwardly extending arms or projections may be provided on the chain. In a modification pivoted arms may be arranged to exert a light blow. on the material at a suitable moment in the cycle of reciprocation. In a further modification continuously rotating wheels or rollers mounted above the troughing are provided with flexible radially extending arms which apply a small force to the material.
