Abstract
351,280. Compound and composite steam boilers. SUPERHEATER CO., Ltd., Bush House, Aldwych, London.- (Schmidt'sche Heissdampf Ges. ; 2, Rolandstrasse, Wilhelmsh÷he, Cassel, Germany.) July 17, 1930, No. 21636. [Class 123 (ii).] In a boiler for locomotives having a high-pressure water-tube firebox section 1, a low-pressure multitubular section 14, and an intermediate highpressure water-tube section 10, the lower header 11 of the intermediate water-tube section is secured at one end to the shell of the multitubular section and at the other end is separate from the lower headers of the firebox section and is suspended by stay-tubes 13 from upper drums or collectors 3. The tubes of the intermediate section are bent to form the top, bottom and a side wall of the gas passage between the firebox and the fire tubes, an open side being left for the insertion of superheaters 15, 16 in the gas passage. The header 11 is held in a bracket 14a secured to the shell of the section 14. Two lower headers may be provided in place of the single lower header 11. The high-pressure steam may be generated in a drum 5 by the circulation of steam from the firebox and intermediate sections through heating coils.
