349,293. Grinding. GENERAL SPRING BUMPER CORPORATION, 2660, East Grand Boulevard, Detroit, Michigan, U.S.A. May 19, 1930, No. 15390. Convention date, Feb. 14, 1930. [Class 60.] Supplying abrading - materials. - In a machine for applying abrasive to a glue-coated grinding - wheel in the manufacture or renovation of the wheel a rolling motion is imparted to the wheel whereby it is pounded into the abrasive material. A grinding-wheel 38 is mounted on an arbor 45 supported between spring-pressed members 42 and members 40 on rocker arms 29, pivoted at one end to cranks 28, which are driven by a motor 14 through a beltpulley 19 and gearing and at 32 to rods 31. Springs 37 on a horseshoe-shaped member 36 on the rocker arms retain the wheel central. Arms 47, which may be raised by a foot-pedal 53 to insert the grinding-wheel, rest in slots 5 according to the size of the wheel and receive the lower ends of the rods 31 downward movement of the rods being limited by adjustable collars 49. The wheel is thus constrained to move through the abrasive in container 12 along a path indicated at A.
