345,113. Weighing-apparatus. FITZPATRICK, H. D., 94, Hope Street, Glasgow. -(Berkel, W. A. van; 33, Boezemsingel, Rotterdam, Holland.) April 2, 1930, No. 10416. [Class 143.] Indicating-mechanism.- A weighing apparatus of the type wherein a weight, price or other indicating chart is connected with and movable by the weighbeam, is provided with an indicating member such as a wire, and a source of light so arranged that the shadow of the wire is cast on the indicating chart and constitutes a datum or index line for the readings. As shown, a lamp 7 casts the shadow 12 of a wire 9 upon the indicator drum 2 by means of a lens system 8, 10, 10, and a mirror 11. The lenses 10 are adjustable relative to the wire 9 to sharpen the shadow, and the mirror 11 is movable about a pivot 15 to adjust the position of the shadow on the indicator drum. In a modification, the lenses 10 are dispensed with and the wire 9 is situated between the mirror and the indicator drum. In a further modification, the indicator drum is transparent and the wire is located inside the drum together with the source of light with or without one or more lenses or mirrors. The invention may be applied to weighing apparatus with a fan-shaped chart movable in relation to a fixed upright datum wire.
