Abstract
341,625. Slings. TRIGG, F. W., Seaton, Mendalgief Road, Newport, Monmouthshire. May 29,1930, No. 35415/29. [Class 78 (iv).] A hookless chain sling a comprising egg-shaped end links b and wide third links d is coupled by a block e on the front face of which is a horizontal groove f. At the back g of the block the chain runs through a vertical passage h, and on the top and bottom are horizontal grooves k. A vertical passage i is entered from the front of the block by the narrower vertical slot m. In operation, the chain a is passed round the burden and through the slot m into the passage i until the links c, d are disposed in the passage and one side of link b rests horizontally in the top groove k. The other side is turned over the front of the block to rest in the link-locking passage f. The link d cannot be withdrawn from the passage i except by lifting the link b. Connection is made to the crane by the section of the chain which is passed through the channel h.
