Abstract

185,588. Murray, G. W., and Danby, H. C. July 25, 1921. Lifting-dogs.-A pair of gripping-tongs j, k are pivoted together on a pin m which slides in a vertical slot in a bar o connected at its lower end to the tongs by links p, q. When the ingot 9 is lowered to the ground, the bar o is supported on the ingot by feet 5, the pin m falls in the slot and the tongs open, a trip-lever t on one of the tongs falling into engagement with a block w on the bar o so as to lock the tongs in the open position. When picking up a load, the trip-lever is disengaged by contact with the ingot at the edge 8.
