Abstract
211,092. Roberts, J. Feb. 8, 1923, [Convention date]. Hooks, safety.-A cargo &c. hook of the type in which the pin of the lifting shackle moves a slot in the upper portion of the hookmember and automatically closes the guard when the load is applied, comprises hook-member A on which bifurcated guard E is pivoted at J. A shacklepin R passes through the limbs of the member E, and a slot H in the upper portion of the hole. A pivot-pin Q<1> flattened at either end to facilitate introduction by way of the slots N, is provided for the member E. Lugs K are provided at the top of the hook to act as stops for the guard E. The guard E can be removed 'by taking out the shackle-pin R and sliding it transversely until the flattened ends of the pin Q<1> are free of the slots N, when the pin can be withdrawn.
