Abstract
340,838. Receiving devices for doors &c. BEARDSLEY, J. B. and BRYSON, W., 2, Anderson Street, Kinning Park, and BROWN, J., 30, Ronald Street, Townhead, both in Glasgow. Feb. 10, 1930, No. 4397. [Class 18.] A door receiving apparatus for milk bottles comprises a pivoted cage 1 into which the bottles are inserted through an opening closed by a hinged plate 13 with two latches, one of which 14 can be withdrawn by inserting a hand through a letterbox flap 17 and moving the handle 15 and the other of which 18 is automatically withdrawn, when the cage is in the horizontal position, by a cam 24 on the cage acting laterally on a finger 19 of the latch 18. On closure of the hinged plate 13 the latch finger 19 acting on the face of the cam 24 releases a detent 22 from a stop 23 so that the cage with full bottles swings to the vertical position. The empty bottles are replaced in the cage which is returned to the horizontal by a handle 27 and retained by the detent 22 and stop 23, the cam edge 24 acting laterally on the finger 19 to withdraw the latch 18 so that the hinged plate 13 can be opened when the latch 14 is manually actuated. The cage is supported from a frame 6 detachably carried by a socket 9 on the door.
