Abstract
357,842. Transferable containers for vehicles. BROWN, F. A. J., 11, Chertsey Road, Redland, Bristol. Nov. 12, 1930, No. 34097. [Classes 103 (iv) and 108 (i).] A transverable container for railway and other vehicles comprises an open-topped receptacle with a sliding door f, shackles g, h being provided for attaching lifting tackle. The sides and door are provided with straps c and the door opening is bounded by plates k and hoop o. Dogs mare hinged to the door and are provided with tongues n<1> adapted to engage below the loop o and lock the door in position. The door is released by levers v having cam projections v<1> and is adapted to slide vertically to enable the contents to be discharged. Pintles t, u at the sides of the top and bottom of the door serve to guide the door. The bottom of the door when closed is flush with the floor of the container and in front of it the bottom of the door straps c being bevelled off to prevent interfering with the complete closing of the door.
