Abstract

338,984. Wild, S. Aug. 31, 1929 Spindle apparatus.- Apparatus for simultaneously twisting and winding threads or the like, particularly artificial silk filaments, comprises one or more bobbin-winding spindles 2 supported in a driven carrier 5 and provided with gears 4 coupled to a pinion 17 or an annulus, which is driven in a direction opposite to that of the rotation of the carrier at a continuously varying speed so as to maintain the speed of the thread and the twist constant in spite of the growth of the bobbin. A reciprocating thread guide 23, disposed as closely as possible to the axis of rotation of the carrier, is associated with each bobbin. The apparatus may be arranged beneath the spinning-cell of an apparatus for dry spinning artificial silk and the speed adjusted to control the stretch denier of the finished filament.
