Abstract

338,962. Skewes, J. E. Aug. 29, 1929. Eye instruments and appliances.-Apparatus for exercising defective eyes comprises means for projecting one or more beams of light through movable prisms so that the path of the images on a screen and the speed of their travel can be varied at the will of an operator. In the form shown the beams of light from two optical lanterns A<1>, A<2> are passed through prisms D<1>, D<2> mounted for rotation in either direction in the plane of the screen S, by means of electric motors controlled by rheostats (not shown). A monochromatic or polychromatic filter may be inserted in the path of the beams at F and additional prisms or filters in the holders L<1>, L<2> which are capable of being rotated. The lanterns have slide carriers C<1>, C<2> constructed to allow the slides to be moved horizontally or vertically or rotated. Complementary colour filters may be used in front of the patient's eyes.
