Abstract
264,615. Smith, K. R. April 23, 1926. Eye appliances.-Apparatus for developing and training binocular vision comprises an eyepiece with screens so placed that the central portion of the field of vision is seen by both eyes whilst the lateral portions are seen by one eye only. The apparatus may be used with any ordinary visual objects such as picture books, drawings on a blackboard &c. Fig. IV shows a construction in which the inner portion of the field of vision of each eye is limited by means of a longitudinal screen A A so that the fields of vision of the two eyes overlap only to a limited extent. A transverse screen of less width than the distance between the pupils may replace the screen A A. Fig. VII shows a modification in which the outer portion of the field of vision of each eye is limited screens B B. In a further modification opaque screens E are placed laterally or centrally on spectcles or in spectacle frames. The screens may be adjustable. When used with a book-rest C the eyepiece may be attached to a rod G sliding in a socket D hinged to the book-rest so as to permit vertical and longitudinal adjustment but to prevent lateral movement. Specification 241,387 is referred to.
